FOUNDATION APPLICATIONS
LOADING TESTS

PREPARATION AND APPLICATION OF LOADING TESTS:

The test sample pile head must be tested at least 7 days after construction.

The test procedure requires five piles which of one for load and four for tensile testing. The load test pile should be constructed in the center point of four tensile test piles.

The loading test equipment consists of two perpendicular beams. Tensile piles must be downright and symmetrical to each other as well as pulley connections should be placed vertically. The load test is conducted by using four tensile test piles.

The testing plate for the load testing is manufactured to be placed symmetrical and flat on top. The dimensions of the testing plate at least 50 by 50 cm according to the test load.

Two compactors with minimum measuring tolerance of 50mm should be used for optimum settlement measurements.

The load is applied according to the TS EN 1997-1 load level standards which is ¼ of the calculated load for load curvature.

The load holding time for each load level and the soil reaction under load is tested according to the TS EN 1997-1 standards with following procedure;

Two types of load tests should be conducted. First, the pile is test loaded to the calculated load capacity with 25% increments of the calculated load. The load should be kept on pile for 60 minutes then the load should be removed in two stages.  On second type, the pile is test loaded to 1.5 times of calculated load capacity with 25% increments of the calculated load. Then unloaded in two stages.
